HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS
Here we explain the main components of our programme.
The core component of our programmes is our award winning 5 day farm skills training programme.
During the training course we put you in contact with employers with vacancies that suit you. You will be able to consider your options before confirming a position.
We will arrange travel to your employer and you will normally start your journey to there when you leave us.
You will need to complete our detailed online application form. We will assess it and reply to confirm our acceptance within 1-2 working days. We may suggest getting prepared by developing your skills and experience before you come here.
Arrival and Welcome
Our arrival and welcome package removes all the hassle and potential problems when you arrive in Australia. Compared with most other ways of spending your first few days in Australia it also can save you a lot of money.
Our arrival day from overseas is Thursday. We will normally meet you at Brisbane airport and arrange transfer to Noosa, one of Australia's most beautiful beach resorts and best backpacker destinations. You will have 4 days to relax. acclimatise, get over jet lag and enjoy this stunning place.
We will give you an induction briefing to prepare you for the training and job placements process. Click the arrival and welcome button to find out more.
The Training Course
The training course is for 5 days and is fully residential at Springbrook training farm near Gympie, approximately 3 hours north of Brisbane in Queensland.
The course starts on Monday and finishes on Friday evening, with meeting points in Noosa (2 hours' drive north of Brisbane).
The aim of the course is to provide a general introduction to Australian farm work. This will give you an awareness of what is required to do well in outback Australia, as well as some skills that will allow you to be useful as soon as you arrive with your employer. We assess your skills and attitude; and then match you to the jobs that best suit your skills, experience and aspirations.
Our trainers are Australian farmers and managers with years of experience, loads of good stories, a sense of fun and humour who really enjoy working with young people.
You will be required to demonstrate your abilities during the training course, as well as show yourself to be a willing worker who learns fast and does a job well.
The training is a flexible and full hands-on programme that provides a fun, general introduction to Australian farm work. It includes:
Linking you with Employers and choosing a job
During the training course you will have the chance to speak to one or more employers whose jobs we have filtered with you in mind.
We have an online system that logs vacancies and generates employer information for you to consider. Out trainers and job co-ordination staff will be able to explain the roles and assist you with the decision making process.
You then decide which job to take.
Normally you will travel to the job directly from the training farm.
There is a huge range of work available in rural and outback Australia.
