Equine & Equestrian

Working with horses in Australia

A wide range of equine and equestrian roles are available all year round and offer the perfect chance to develop skills, gain experience or pursue your passion. The roles are available as 365 for up to 12 months and 88 day programmes for up to 3 months.

Our network of equine employers ranges from small family enterprises to some of the largest breeding and training operations in Australia, including world famous names and Australian National Team riders. You can see images from several of these in the gallery below.

You could be working with polo, polocrosse, show jumping, eventing, dressage, racehorse training and spelling, endurance riding, thoroughbred stables and breeding or with equine veterinarians, or with horses as part of a general farm work role.

You are also likely to need to use tractors and other farm vehicles, and be ready to do the routine work on the ground as well as the more interesting work and of course, the riding.

Australia is also well known for mustering cattle on horseback, and these roles can be available for accomplished and confident riders. Previous experience is preferred for most roles of this type. Please note that mustering activity is usually something that happens occasionally within a more general farm work role.

You can specify your areas of interest when you apply. Many roles are all year round, but some are seasonal.
