They are intended as a common-sense guide to good safety practice.

VEHICLES
YOU SHOULD EXPECT THE FOLLOWING IN ALL WORK SCENARIOS
UTES / ALL VEHICLE CHECKS
Fuel, oil and tyres check at the beginning of each day. PLUS RADIO CHECK.
Quick visual / walk round check every time you get in.
Some employers may require a daily / weekly check sheet, and register of any servicing.
DIRT ROADS
At least 20% less speed than the speed limit on dirt roads, stopping distance is 3x that of tarmac, or more.
Braking and cornering with great care and much less speed.
Be aware of road surface imperfections, ridges, loose stones and dust.
Keep distance from followed vehicles because of the dust.
Know where you are going, ideally a physical and a phone map.
Have charged up phone, radio comms, first aid kit, food and water.

NEVER RIDE THE TRAY
IF IT IS FLOODED, GO BACK
