JOB SUMMARY
VisitOz is a working farm and farm work skills and job placement organisation based in SE Queensland. We have been training and arranging rural and outback work for young workers from overseas since 1991.
We are looking for 2 general assistants. We call them 'Go-fors'.
The 'Go-for' job means that you are a general assistant, helping and getting involved with a bit of everything on the farm, assisting with the farm skills training, keeping the homestead and accommodation clean and tidy, and whatever else is necessary.
The role will also involve driving, fetching and carrying, collecting mail and the stores from town and so on. We are looking for willingness to help with everything.
ABOUT OUR BUSINESS
Each week we run a 5 day training course for working holiday makers from all around the world. We maintain a large database of rural and outback employers all over Australia, and guarantee a paid 2nd visa job to all people who successfully complete the training course. A choice of suitable jobs is arranged during the training course and one job is confirmed. This could be anywhere in Australia. Travel to the job follows after the training course.
The course normally costs $1,400.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
In this role you will first complete the training course, then work as a volunteer for 4 weeks as a kind of extended work experience and training. After this we will guarantee to provide you a choice of appropriate 88 day 2nd visa qualifying farm work jobs from our database of employers.
ABOUT OUR FARM
We have a vibrant community here - young people come from all over the world to do a short training course with us and then go out to guaranteed jobs in outback and rural areas. 95% of these jobs count for the second visa.
We have lots of horses, cattle, sheep and chickens and lots of wildlife. We use quad bikes, dirtbikes, tractors and utes (4WD) every day. There is a lot of physical and outdoor work.
LOCATION
Our farm is about 300 km NW of Brisbane (3.5 hours) and our transfer bus comes here every Monday morning from Noosa, on the Sunshine Coast. Our nearest small towns are Gympie (1 hour) and Murgon (40 minutes). Fraser Island is 2 hours away.
ESSENTIAL QUALITIES
Full driving licence, (manual vehicles)
Very good spoken English
Cheerful, friendly, sociable,
Good team worker, willing to use initiative
Ready to have fun and work hard
USEFUL SKILLS
Other skills like being a good cook, horse rider, mechanic, carpenter, painter and decorator or motor-bike rider are helpful but not essential.
Sometimes customer service or office administration skills are also required.
OTHER THINGS
All food and accommodation is included.
You will cater for yourself (with other staff on the farm) at weekends.
We will offer you use of our vehicles (for occasional days off at weekends etc) if required.
You will be expected to pay for personal fuel use.
