Applying for your 2nd year visa extension

Holders of Working Holiday Visas (417) may apply for a 2nd year extension to their working holiday visa if they complete 88 or more days of farm work in certain rural parts of Australia, depending on the postcode.

Holders of Work and Holiday Visas (462) may apply for a 2nd year extension if they complete 88 or more days of farm work in certain rural post codes, or in hospitality roles in North Australia.

Many, but not all of the jobs arranged by Visitoz are eligible for the 2nd visa extension. ​

Before you start working with an employer

You should check and confirm with your employer that they are able to offer you 2nd visa qualifying work before you start the employment. The 2nd year visa can be applied for up to your 31st birthday (36 for Canada and Ireland.) 

WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED 88 DAYS OF QUALIFYING WORK

After you have completed the required period of work you will need to make an application to the Australian Department of Immigration. 

To do this you will need to

1. Create an ImmiAccount (see below) 
2. Ask your employer to complete form 1263 at the end of your employment
3. Collect together digital copies of all your payslips and the summary of your work when you finish employment (sometimes called a group certificate)
4. Make an application for your 2nd visa via your Immi Account. This will require completion of an online application form and submission of your payslips, group certificate and the completed 1263 form.

Your employer will need to

1. Complete part of the form 1263 
2. Provide you with payslips for all the work you do
3. Provide a summary of your work when you finish employment (sometimes called a group certificate

CREATING YOUR IMMI ACCOUNT

Setting up an Immi account is the first stage of being able to submit an online application for your 2nd working holiday visa. The Immi account is an online portal that will enable you to submit to the Australian Department of Immigration the information they need to validate and authorise your 2nd visa application.
 
When you have completed 88 days or more of qualifying work in rural Australia you will need to complete the application online and be ready to upload digital scanned copies of:
1. Payslips and other information from your employer
2. Form 1263 signed and completed by your employer
 
Please remember that not every rural employer is able to provide work that qualifies for the 2nd working holiday visa. It is important that you check this
 
1. Create the ImmiAccount

1. Log onto https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login
2. If you haven’t already created an Immi account, click the button ‘Create ImmiAccount’
3. Check the box ‘Apply as an individual’
4. Complete your personal information
5. Complete security questions and password.  (remember to keep a note of what you use)
6. After you have completed the process you will be sent an email requesting that you activate your account, from which you need to follow a link that leads to an email confirmation page: click the confirmation link and after that you should see an ‘email confirmed – success’ page.

2. Make your application
Once you have set up an account, you will have access to a portal where you can manage your applications, payments from your employers* and groups. You can start an application for a 2nd year visa via the portal: start by clicking ‘new application’NB *you will need to upload your payslips and other employment information from your employer as evidence of your work so make sure that you keep these records from your employer.
