TRAINING FARM 
FARMWORK PREPARATION COURSE

Hidden Gold Training Farm is owned and operated by Clinton Kenyon. 

He is the lead trainer for all our farmwork preparation activities and has been successfully preparing and inspiring Working Holiday Makers for work in rural and outback Australia for more than 10 years. Clinton has lived and worked all over Australia, done nearly all the jobs it is possible to do. He is passionate about all branches of Australian Agriculture, especially regenerative farming, and horsemanship. He is a successful bull rider in his spare time. 

Hidden Gold is used for a range of livestock, as well as high performance western horse riding clinics, and next to a beautiful lake, it is a great place to become familiar with Australian farm life. 

The 5 days at Hidden Gold are intended to give you an authentic farm experience with the chance to demonstrate and develop your farm skills and farm workplace awareness.

The traning programme has been developed and refined over 30 years, and is well proven to ge a great first step in working in rural Australia. 
It is the start of your journey and your progression. 


Our aim is to give you the understanding and the ability ake a good start in your job, a strong first impression. 
This will enable you to become established, secure and confident, working and earning here in rural Australia.

PROGRAMME - WEEKLY ACTIVITIES AT THE TRAINING FARM 
The programme will vary slightly depending on previous skills and abilities, but will normally include: 
  • Farm vehicles and machinery 
Tractors, quad bikes, farm buggies, 2 wheel bikes, farm utility vehicles and trailers
Small machinery and tools - brush cutters, mowers
Maintenance, especially fencing, water supply, vehicles
  • Livestock handling and care​
​Cattle, sheep, horses, chcickens, pigs, alpaca
  • Horses - riding, handling, stablework and related tasks for the thoroughbred, perfomance and traditional pastoral use
  • ​Farm safety, routines and communication
Including 2 way radios, hydration, personal organisation, typical daily tasks, getting involved with all aspects of farm life
Dangerous animals, weather and climate adjustment. SAFETY around animals, machinery, and in the farm environment. 
  • Farm living, General advice, Feedback
​This is likely to be a very new environment for you. As we get to know  you we will be able to offer personalised feedback and advice for productivity, engagement and successful employment, especially expectation setting, learning to adapt to the people, tasks and living environment.
