Farming CAREER
Development PROGRAMMES

Developing your farming career in Australia

These programmes offer a pathway to developing your farming career.

Australia offers a unique combination of opportunities in a wide range of agricultural sectors.  Our methods are sophisticated, up to date and often on a very large scale. This enables you to add new perspective to your education, training and practical experience.

Australia also gives you a great opportunity to stand on your own feet in a safe new country while developing skills and gaining experience. You can expect to develop personally and professionally.

Programmes are designed for applicants with an appropriate initial level of relevant education, training and work experience. You will be able to specify which work type and experience you intend to gain, and for how long.

We offer you the safety and security of a professional organisation and a database of employers roles built up over 28 years.

Key facts

  • Our programmes run for any duration from short term to 4, 8 or 12 months, making them suitable to productively fill your long vacation or for a full year.
  • Our most popular programme is for 4 months, and can easily be extended to include more opportunities to work.
  • The opportunity to take several jobs over a period of up to 12 months allows you to build up experience in different environments and sectors
  • A dedicated back up and support service with professional staff is here to help you get the most of working in Australia

Our process

  1. We prepare your career profile, including your career development aims
  2. Your profile (including your skill development aims) is promoted to our unique database of 2,000 employers in all agricultural sectors who read our employer lists every week looking to employ keen and motivated young staff
  3. We start the process of matching you to suitable employers
  4. We provide an arrival and welcome service which includes setting you up with all the paperwork and other admin you need to work in Australia
  5. We provide an Australian Agriculture familiarisation course (5 days residential) on our training farm in South East Queensland
  6. We provide a detailed job matching service which links you to a choice of roles that meet your aspirations. With our help you choose the role that suits you best.
  7. We arrange your travel from our training farm to your new employer

Earning potential - up to $40,000 savings in 12 months

Your earning ability here in Australia will depend on your skills and how successfully you integrate into your role here. Minimum wages in Australia are generous and fair, and good workers are readily offered better pay rates.
Weekly take home pay starts at approximately $500 per week (based on 38 hour week at legal minimum wages)
Experienced and skilled workers are likely to receive significantly more once skills and effectiveness have been confirmed.

This rate normally includes food and accommodation. Personal expenses are minimal when living and working on a farm.

Savings over a 3 month period can quite realistically be $6-10,000, and in a year of work $24-40,000 Australian Dollars

Costs - Excellent value for early career farmers
