​Farming Career Development Programmes and Visa types 

For Australian Citizens
Australian citizens may work without restriction in rural and outback Australia. Our membership database of employers gives access to a unique spread of employers in all parts of the country and in all agricultural sectors. 

Membership of our programmes will give you access to a uniquely wide range of potential employers, all of whom are able to work to help you develop your career. Completing a series of roles can build up your skills and enable you to control and plan your career development. ​

417 & 462 Working Holiday  Visas (WHV)
...are available to an increasing number of countries and is a pathway to work and travel in Australia that is easy to access and has relatively few restrictions. The visa allows a stay of 12 months and permits work for up to 6 months in one role. 2nd, 3rd and 4th jobs can follow.
​Completing agricultural work may also allow extension of the visa for a 2nd and 3rd year. 

The visa offers a unique opportunity to take a series of roles to build up experience across different sectors and with different employers, typically spending 3-4 months in each role.

407 Training Visas
...are available to participants from a wide range of countries. The training visa is designed so that an employer sponsor a participant to receive up to 2 years of structured workplace training.

Applicants must demonstrate a relevant history of education, training and work experience, must be subject to a training needs analysis and have a clear training plan agreed with their employer.

482 Sponsored Visa
​...is available as part of a programme to recruit young people with particular skills that are not readily available within the Australian population. The process requires that the employee's skills and experience are matched to a role that can not be filled from an applicant within Australia. 
This process of application and nomination by a potential employer may take several months.
